Man Involved In Fatal Shooting Of EBR Deputy Dies

A man involved in the fatal shooting of an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Sgt. has died.

30-year-old Brandon Wiley died shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday at a Baton Rouge hospital where he had been listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound.

43-year-old Sheriff's Sgt. Shawn Anderson was fatally shot during an altercation with Wiley late Saturday night at a hair salon off O'Neal Lane.  Anderson and another deputy had gone to the salon to investigate a rape allegation against Wiley.

Details of exactly how Anderson and Wiley were shot have not been released.

Authorities have not said if Wiley was armed or if he fired any shots during the scuffle. The second deputy, who has not been identified, escaped injury in the incident.
