The Louisiana Crawfish Festival opens tonight in Chalmette.
Gates open at 5 p.m. tonight and Friday and at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The festival began in 1975 and is known for crawfish served in a variety of ways. You can get your crawfish boiled, in jambalaya or pasta and in a po-boy.
The fest also features entertainment, handmade arts and crafts and carnival rides.
The Molly Ringwalds will perform on Saturday and Junior and Sumtin' Sneaky, the Wise Guys, and Groovy 7 will appear on Sunday.
The event is held on the grounds of the St. Bernard Government Complex at 8200 West Judge Perez Drive. The cost of general admission is $5.
