Hundreds of law enforcement officers from across the region and other states are expected to join the family and friends today in the farewell to East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Sgt. Shawn Anderson.
The 43-year-old Anderson, a U.S. Army veteran, was fatally shot late Saturday night during a scuffle at a Baton Rouge hair salon where he and another deputy were conducting a rape investigation. Another man involved died Tuesday from a gunshot wound.
Anderson is survived by his wife Becky and two children, ages 11 and 14. He joined the department in May of 1999.
His funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Healing Place Church on Highland Road in Baton Rouge and it will be followed by a public procession to a private graveside service at the Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery in Pinegrove.
