The Census Bureau more people moved from New Orleans to other parts of the country than moved into the city from other areas of the nation in 2016.
Nearly 10,000 people moved to New Orleans from other parts of the U.S. in 2011. Last year, it is estimated that about 760 more people left New Orleans for other parts of the country than moved in.
The Bureau estimates that the city's population stands at approximately 391,500, about 80% of the population it had prior to Hurricane Katrina.
The population of the metro area is now estimated at 1.25 million.
The population of Louisiana is estimated at 4,682,000 and it grew by an estimated three-tenths of one percent in 2016.
