Jason Adams, the Lamborghini driver facing a vehicular homicide charge in connection with a fatal crash last May, was ordered Monday (March 27) to account for positive results of a random drug test ordered by a New Orleans judge.
Criminal District Court Judge Robin Pittman surprised Adams, 31, with the drug test after a discovery hearing in his case was rescheduled to April 12. When the results came back to the judge about 40 minutes later, Adams was found to have come to court with unspecified drugs in his system.
Adams' attorney David Courcelle told Pittman the results stemmed from his client's use of a prescribed anti-anxiety medication, which was not identified inside or outside the courtroom. Pittman ordered Adams and his attorney to provide proof of the prescription by 3 p.m.

Earlier, Orleans Parish prosecutor Zack Popovich told the court that the district attorney's office still had not received a chain of custody log from New Orleans police regarding the evidence collected in the case. Adams is charged with one count of vehicular homicide in connection with the single-car crash of the high-speed sports car along Tchoupitoulas Street May 4, 2016. The crash left Adams' 23-year-old passenger Kristi Lirette dead at the scene.
Pittman rescheduled to April 12 the discovery hearing in which the state must provide its case evidence to Adams' defense team, which also includes criminal defense attorney Robert Jenkins.
