NOPD releases body camera video of fatal January shooting

A seven second body cam video has been released today . Police released the seven seconds of body cam video footage from the January shooting that involved an NOPD officer .

Superintendent Michael Harrison and Deputy Chief Arlinda Westbrook, along with members of the Public Integrity Bureau, released video footage captured by body cameras during the January 2017 fatal shooting of Arties Manning.

Manning’s family called on police to release the video at a vigil late last week, according to our partners at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.

The video does not show Manning being shot, but rather shows Manning running from a uniformed police officer and raising a "black object," which she identified as a weapon.

The officer who shot Manning, identified as Terrance Hilliard, was around the corner of a building when he shot Manning.

The gun in Manning's possession at the time of the shooting was registered to a different person, NOPD said.

The Manning family has seen the video and is upset and still grieving.
