2 Uptown Armed Robberies On Weds. Night

Authorities are investigating two armed robberies in Uptown late Wednesday night.

The first occurred at about 10:10 p.m. in the 2000 block of Adams Street when two males armed with handguns approached a student who was sitting in his vehicle and demanded his keys.  Unable to operate the vehicle, the gunmen fled with the victim's cellphone.

A short time later a second person reported that they had been the victim of a car-jacking in the 7000 block of Panola St.  That person told police two gunmen matching the descriptions of the perpetrators involved in the earlier crime, approached the victim and another person as they sat in a car in a driveway.  They ordered the two to get out of the car and drove off.  

The stolen vehicle was a Black 2006 Nissan Sentra bearing Louisiana license plate PYD 357

Tulane University Police officers and NOPD officers responded to the incidents and conducted an extensive search but were not able to locate the subjects or the stolen vehicle.

The perpetrators were described identically by the respective victims. They were described as 2 black males in their late teens to early twenties, medium build, approximately 5’9” – 5’10”, wearing black hoodies over black pants.
