30 Displaced By Fire on Cambronne St.

30 persons, 12 adults and 18 children, were displaced by a fire Wednesday night that destroyed a 4-unit residential building in the 3500 block of Cambronne Street at Palm Street.

The New Orleans Fire Department reports that the roof of the two-story frame building collapsed and that none of the apartments had working smoke detectors.

No one was injured.  The Red Cross was assisting the displaced with housing and clothing.

The fire was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. and was brought under control around 7:25 p.m.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
