A 28-year veteran of the Mandeville Police Department died Sunday after falling from a ladder near Folsom while he was trimming trees.
64-year-old Detective Lt. Minton "Vaughn" Whitehead joined the department in 1989 and most recently was the supervisor of the investigative division.
Authorities say Whitehead fell about 20 feet as he was trimming trees at his home and was pronounced dead at North Oaks Hospital in Hammond.
