The cries of a child led a neighbor to call police who discovered a woman dead in her apartment in Terrytown late Monday morning.
The victim was found lying in a pool of blood in the living room of the apartment in the 2100 block of Empire Place shortly before noon.
There was no immediate word on the cause of her death.
Her 4-year-old son was found unharmed.
Witnesses told investigators that the woman had last been seen on Saturday.
