A man shot to death at a gas station on Airline Highway in Hollygrove on Saturday night has been identified as a local rap performer.
The victim was 27-year-old Desmone Jerome who performed under the name BTY YoungN.
The shooting occurred shortly after 11 p.m. at the Shell in the 9200 block of Airline Highway. Third District officers discovered the performer lying face up on the ground in the gas station pumping area, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators were gathering evidence in an attempt to identify the person(s) responsible as well as a motive.
A statement on the rapper’s Facebook page confirmed the passing. It reads: “On behalf of YoungN’s friends and family, we ask that you please respect their privacy at this time. We will post arrangements once they are available, we will post for his fans."
