NOPD Guards Confederate Monument After Protests

A Confederate monument is under police guard after rival groups of protesters clashed there.

Police barricades now restrict direct access to the Jefferson Davis monument on Canal Street after Monday's protests.

Tuesday, volunteers worked to clean spray paint from another statue outside City Park.

Because of death threats, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is in the process of relocating a total of four Confederate-era monuments without giving prior notice of each relocation.

One statue has already been taken down.
