LSU Emails Student-Athletes On Alton Sterling Case

All student-athletes at LSU are getting an email with instructions on how to safely express opinions about the Alton Sterling case.

Sterling was an African-American who was shot and killed by police while being pinned to the ground last year. Wednesday, the Department of Justice said the two white Baton Rouge police officers involved in Sterling's shooting death won't face federal civil rights charges.

The LSU athletic department says it's offering "respect and support" for the athletes, but encourages them to avoid "potentially violent situations."
