Winn-Dixie Closing Stores In Louisiana

Winn-Dixie says is closing stores in Louisiana.

In the New Orleans area, 3 stores will be shuttered: locations in New Orleans East, Slidell and Lafayette. The chain says it does intend to eventually re-open a Chef Menteur Highway location, once work has concluded to repair damages after the store was hit by a tornado in February.

The Advocate reports that two Winn-Dixie locations in the Baton Rouge area damaged by last year's floods will be taken over by Shoppers Value. The Old Hammond Highway store is scheduled to reopen by the end of July while the Walker South location should be back in business by the end of September.
