Former New Orleans Police Chief Richard Pennington's funeral is scheduled for this Friday.
Pennington died last week in Atlanta. Public visitation and a wake take place Thursday at Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel in Atlanta. Friday morning's funeral service is at the Cascade United Methodist Church.
Pennington is credited with helping to significantly bring down New Orleans' high murder rate and civil rights complaints during his tenure beginning in the early 1990s.
