Sanctuary Cities Bill Fails In State House

The Republican-controlled Louisiana House does not pass a bill to penalize sanctuary cities.

The bill would have fined cities and stripped them of state funding if they did not cooperate with federal authorities in immigration cases. State Attorney General Jeff Landry supported the bill saying sanctuary cities harbor violent criminals.

The bill would have especially affected New Orleans, which tells police officers not to ask suspects about their immigration status.
