City Going Forward With Beauregard Monument Removal

The question of who owns City Park is not keeping the city from moving ahead with plans to remove the P.G.T. Beauregard monument there.

The Confederate monument is one of four that New Orleans has decided to dismantle and relocate away from the city.  A monument preservation group says the city first needs to get permission for the Beauregard removal based on claims the New Orleans City Park Improvement Association owns City Park as well as the monument.

Monday, city officials said the removal plans are still on track although no firm date or time for such have been published.
