State House To Consider Gasoline Tax Increase

State representatives are set to consider a gasoline tax increase bill.

HB 632 sponsored by Baton Rouge Representative Steve Carter calls for a 17-cent increase on gasoline, diesel and special fuels.

If passed and eventually signed by Governor John Bel Edwards, the increase would kick in as of July 1st.

The bill stipulates the tax increase funds be used by DOTD for infrastructure improvement projects on state roads and bridges.
