Governor Calls Special Session To Shore Up Budget

Torrential Rains Bring Historic Floods To Southern Louisiana

Lawmakers are getting ready to hunker down again at the capitol after Governor John Bel Edwards' call for a special session to straighten out Louisiana's budget.

Edwards says his request for the session that would start next week is a precautionary measure. He said should he and lawmakers reach agreements on the operating and construction budgets beforehand, the session won't be necessary.

The session is set to begin next Thursday and would wind up on June 19th.
