Three people are dead in several shootings in which a total of 13 people were hit on the same day in New Orleans.
On Saturday morning shots were fired in a large group of people on Tulane Avenue. Two died at the scene, one of whom was former St. Augustine High School place kicker Zachary Nelson. Another person injured at the same meet-up died Sunday from gunshot wounds.
Ten more people were injured in that and several other shootings throughout the day.
A report in The Advocate cites New Orleans crime analyst Jeff Asher saying Saturday was the most violent day so far this year in the city.
