The hospital treating Congressman Steve Scalise says his condition is improving after he was shot in the hip at a baseball practice.
MedStar Washington Hospital Center said in a statement last night that the Republican representative "underwent a second surgery related to his internal injures and a broken bone in his leg." The statement continued, "He remains in critical condition, but has improved in the last 24 hours."
Doctors say he will require further surgeries after Scalise was shot Wednesday in Alexandria, Virginia, where four others were hurt. The gunman was killed by police.
