High winds and tides from the approach of Tropical Storm Cindy are doing serious damage to a levee on Grand Isle.
The effects from Cindy even before landfall yesterday eroded the sand, leaving the barrier's tube exposed with only rocks to protect it. Mayor David Camardelle says the damage to the levee is proof that much more protection than what has been implemented so far is needed.
Camardelle says dozens of Grand Isle streets are already flooded causing damage to some businesses.
