Pelicans Get Frank Jackson After NBA Draft Night Trade

The New Orleans Pelicans had a few more moves to make on NBA Draft night.

After trading for an additional second-round draft pick on the eve of the Draft, the Pels worked a deal with Charlotte, sending the Hornets the 40th overall pick and cash for the draft rights of guard Frank Jackson.

Jackson, who spent one season at Duke, was selected by the Hornets with the 31st overall pick and is excited to team up with Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins in New Orleans.

“I mean, those are two of the best bigs in the league,” Jackson said in a post-pick interview reported by Pelicans.com. “It’s going to teach me a lot. It’s going to allow me to play with those guys and just learn. I’m looking forward to it.”

New Orleans also made another draft night deal, this one with Indiana. The Pacers sent cash to the Pelicans in return for the draft rights to the 52nd overall pick, Edmond Sumner.
