LSU may have located its next live tiger mascot.
The school announced Tuesday that a 9-month-old tiger with Siberian and Bengal characteristics at a rescue facility in Florida "is in need of a good home" and would be donated to the university.
The potential Mike VII is currently scheduled to arrive on campus in mid-August after updates to the on-campus tiger habitat are completed. There will be a one-week period for "quarantine and acclimation" where the tiger would remain in the night house of the facility.
If that goes well, the tiger would be released into the yard and be named Mike. LSU says it will announce that in advance, but there is no firm date at this time.
