Rains Overwhelm New Orleans Pumping System

New Orleans officials today are blaming an overwhelmed pumping system for flooding in the city.  And more rain could make things worse.

Between eight and ten inches of rain fell in many neighborhoods Saturday, keeping the city's 24 pumping stations operating at full capacity.  City officials are calling it a 100-year event.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu said the city was working hard to help those affected by the flooding.  He said no deaths have been reported, and he encouraged people to watch for more thunderstorms today.
