Tax Hike Proposal Would Benefit JP Teachers, Other Employees

There's an effort underway to boost the pay of Jefferson Parish school teachers and other employees.

The school board on Tuesday is to consider placing a measure on the November ballot that would add an additional four mills to the property tax.

The millage rate is already close to 23 mills, and the additional millage could increase revenue to the school district by about $14 million.
