A man wanted for beating and raping a Mandeville woman over the weekend is in custody.
Mandeville Police say Ronald Douglas Moore, Jr. was arrested yesterday with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office assisting in the apprehension.
The 53-year-old victim told investigators she was attacked early Saturday morning as she slept on a sofa in the living room of her Monroe Street home.
Moore was charged with 1st Degree Rape, Aggravated Burglary and Attempted 1st Degree Murder. He is currently on probation for prior burglary and drug charges.
“The Mandeville Police Department continues to pray for and support our victim in this horrific ordeal. Her physical and emotional recovery will no doubt be a long process," said Chief Gerald Sticker.
Sticker also thanked other law enforcement agencies and the public for its help. "Finally I would like to thank our citizens who actively participated; calling in tips and the 100,000 plus views and shares on social media. The community support and participation no doubt, helped to break this case!”
