Defensive linemen Jason Jones and John Hughes III each signed a contract with the New Orleans Saints, their respective agents announced on Saturday.
Jones and Hughes, who have played both defensive end and tackle in their careers, likely will provide depth behind starting defensive ends Cameron Jordan and Alex Okafor. The Saints are in need of depth at the position since Nick Fairley's season is on hold due to a heart condition.
Jones recorded 212 tackles, 31.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles during his nine-year career with the Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins since being drafted in the second round in 2008. The 31-year-old collected 36 tackles and 3.5 sacks with the Dolphins last season before being released prior to the team's playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Hughes notched 115 tackles and 5.5 sacks in five seasons with the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 29-year-old made just six tackles in five games with the Buccaneers last season.
