UPDATE: Both were found alive Monday morning.
At last word, a search continued for the seven-year-old daughter of Lafayette Parish Sheriff Mark Garber and her 21-year-old babysitter.
The two went missing late yesterday afternoon while canoeing. Investigators suspect the canoe may have drifted into a wooded area because of high water.
Volunteers with canoes or kayaks are being asked to take part this morning in the search of the swamp located off of Garber Road.
The sheriff was in the Port Arthur, Texas area yesterday assisting law enforcement with patrolling the Harvey-ravaged area.
