A statewide blood drive will be taking place to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Governor John Bel Edwards announced Thursday that the event will take place today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:

901 North 3rd St, Louisiana State Capitol
Southwest Entrance Gate - Shreveport State Office Building
1525 Fairfield Ave. - Northeast Louisiana State Office Building in Monroe
24 Accent Dr. - Alexandria State Office Building
900 Murray St. - Brandywine VI State Office Building in Lafayette
825 Kaliste Saloom Rd. - McNeese State University, Lake Charles
Lether E Frazar Memorial Library
300 Beauregard Dr. - University of New Orleans, University Center, 2nd Floor
2000 Lakeshore Dr.
He's also proclaimed today Louisiana Blood Donation Day.
Today's blood drive is an effort to shore up supplies in areas of Southeast Texas where donations severely dropped off because of Harvey.
