New Indictment In Kenner Double-Murder Case

An Avondale man is facing upgraded charges in the shooting deaths of a Kenner couple.

A Jefferson Parish grand jury handed up a new indictment yesterday charging 30-year-old Shaun Barnett with two counts of first-degree murder in the killing of Raynell Kimbrough and Dawn Scott. Both were shot inside their apartment while lying in bed with their two-week-old daughter who escaped injury.

Barnett was originally indicted for second-degree murder.
