Two dozen apartments are no longer habitable after a two-alarm fire ripped through a complex in Kenner.
The blaze erupted around 5:20 yesterday afternoon at the Sugar Mill apartments on Williams Boulevard. It didn't take firefighters long to extinguish the flames, but by then fire, smoke and water had done enough damage to leave residents homeless, at least for a while.
There were no injuries in the blaze that may have started in a kitchen of one of the units.
