Edwards Requests La. Universities Review Hazing Policies

Torrential Rains Bring Historic Floods To Southern Louisiana

Governor John Bel Edwards is requesting that universities in Louisiana review policies related to hazing.

Edwards sent a letter to university presidents calling on them to conduct a thorough review of all policies related to "hazing and drug and alcohol abuse" among Greek organization and other university-sanctioned groups.

The call comes one week after LSU freshman Maxwell Gruver died in what the university is calling a "possible hazing incident."

In his letter, Governor Edwards said that Gruver and students who have died before him deserve our "best efforts" to prevent these instances form happening in the future.
