State Police say a 7-year-old Luling girl was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Hahnville Sunday afternoon.
Alina Ezzo was not properly restrained when the SUV she was riding in went off the road on LA 18 east of Avalon Place, struck several trees, and overturned.
Ezzo was ejected from the vehicle and died from her injuries. Troopers say the driver, Islam Ezzo, was speeding at the time. He was also seriously hurt in the crash.
Islam Ezzo faces Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Negligent Injuring and Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle charges. Impairment is suspected to be a factor.
