Police are identifying the suspected shooter in the Sunday night killing of a Lafayette police officer.
Corporal Michael Paul Middlebrook (pictured) was shot to death responding to a call at a convenience store after a gunman opened fire.
Officials say 28-year-old Ian Paul Howard, a UL-Lafayette graduate, was booked yesterday morning into the parish's jail on charges that include first-degree murder of a police officer. He's also charged with injuring two other people.
