Family, friends and colleagues will say their final goodbyes later this week to a Lafayette police officer killed in the line of duty Sunday night.
Corporal Michael Middlebrook was shot to death and two civilians were injured when a man opened fire as Middlebrook arrived to investigate a shooting at a Big Boy Discount Zone convenience store.
Funeral services for the officer will be held Friday at Our Savior's Church on Broussard Road.
Shooting suspect Ian Paul Howard is being held without bond on a first-degree murder charge.
