For the third year in a row, Louisiana is receiving a federal grant to address literacy, namely the reading and writing skills of struggling students.

The state Department of Education says the more than $55 million Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy grant will be doled out over a three-year period to benefit students through grade 12.

Louisiana is the only state to have received the grant three consecutive times.
