New Orleans Saturday Curfew Now Begins At 7 pm

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu will issue a mandatory curfew as Nate makes his way onshore.

The curfew will now goes into effect at 7 p.m., an hour later than originally scheduled, and will be in effect through Sunday morning. New Orleans Police say those going to and from work and essential safety personnel will be allowed on the streets as long as it is safe to do so.

Starting at 6, NOPD will start placing barricades at underpasses that can flood in the event of heavy rain.

Landrieu has also issued a mandatory evacuation order for those in Venetian Isles, Lake Catherine, and Irish Bayou. Residents should be out of those areas by Noon Saturday.
