Wounded House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of New Orleans says he still backs the unlimited right to bear arms.
Appearing on NBC's Meet the Press, the Louisiana Republican says he opposes new gun laws that don't fix problems, saying they "only make it harder for law-abiding citizens to own a gun." Scalise is also opposed to banning bump stocks that modify rifles into automatic weapons.
Scalise was gravely wounded on June 14th when a shooter opened fire on the GOP's congressional baseball team as members practiced in suburban Virginia.
