Hurdle Cleared In Pay Hike For Big Easy Cops

5 Year Anniversary Of Hurricane Katrina Nears For A Battered US Gulf Coast

Cops who work in the Big Easy are a step closer to getting fatter paychecks.

The New Orleans Advocate reports the city's Civil Service Board gave a thumbs-up yesterday to a major overhaul of police pay. If approved by City Council, pay increases would range from 5 to 19% depending on an officer's rank.

The plan is expected to come with a price tag exceeding $9 million a year.
