Seven people are in the hospital following an oil rig explosion on Lake Pontchartrain.
Reports of an explosion at a rig operated by CLOVELLY Oil started coming in shortly after 7 o'clock Sunday evening. An initial investigation reveals that cleaning chemicals that ignited on the surface of the rig platform may be the cause of the explosion.
Officials say all people injured in the incident were on the rig or an adjacent barge.
