The Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office is being asked to review the September arrest of St. Charles Parish President Larry Cochran.
His vehicle was stopped by Kenner police after a caller reported the SUV being driven erratically and fears it would wind up in a canal.
Cochran was arrested for suspicion of DWI, but a toxicology report on a blood draw indicated the specimen contained the painkillers hydrocodone, oxycodone and oxymorphone.
