License Plate Readers Added To Crime-Fighting Efforts

New Orleans is spending part of a $40 million federal grant on license plate readers. They are devices that Police Superintendent Michael Harrison hopes will help the city in its crime-fighting efforts.

The devices will alert officers to vehicles that may have been stolen or involved in possible criminal activity. They've already been installed in 18 locations, with 17 more still to be added.
