A program that permitted parish law enforcement agencies to hire state troopers to write traffic tickets is now suspended.
The at least temporary demise of the Local Agency Compensated Enforcement program and the suspension of three troopers came after a FOX 8 News investigation uncovered problems related to overtime and mileage expenses.
The probe found that, as a result of the program, one of the troopers became the highest-paid law enforcement officer in Louisiana.
