A man is dead after being shot and killed Saturday night by St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputies.
A sheriff's spokesman says 55-year-old Eddy Longoria of Dallas, Texas was killed when he allegedly pointed a weapon at deputies who were investigating a report that a woman had been taken hostage. It was also reported the man was firing a weapon inside the home on Holifield Lane.
The deputies and the hostage all escaped injury.
