A just released study says black students in Louisiana are twice as likely to be suspended as whites.

The report was issued yesterday by the Education Research Alliance for New Orleans and supports the outcome of other studies on the same topic. Black and low-income students were also found to face longer suspensions for similar infractions.

The Tulane University-based alliance stopped short of assigning blame for the punishments doled out.
