Two people died and one person was critically injured in a crash in Terrebonne Parish Monday.
Around 7 a.m. troopers with Troop C responded to the two-vehicle fatality crash on LA 311 near Fletcher Technical Community College.
The crash took the lives of 63-year-old Larry Landry of Thibodaux and 31-year-old Timothy Cleary of Orlando, FL.
The initial investigation revealed Landry was traveling south on LA 311 in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, according to LSP.
Jessie Bethancourt, 45, of Houma, was traveling north on LA 311 in a 2007 Toyota Tacoma.
LSP reported that Landry crossed the center line and struck Bethancourt’s vehicle head-on.
Despite being properly restrained, Landry received fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.
Bethancourt was not wearing his seat belt and sustained severe injuries, according to the report.
He was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans by Acadian Ambulance Service Air Med. Cleary, who was a passenger in Bethancourt’s vehicle, was not wearing his seat belt and sustained fatal injuries.
He was also pronounced deceased on scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash; however, toxicology testing is pending from both drivers, according to the report.
