New Orleans drivers who have been dealing with a major detour between Lakeview and Mid-City for the last four months are about to be back on their normal route.
The Regional Transit Authority said construction at the intersection of Canal St. and City Park Ave. should wrap up in less than a week.
The heavily-traveled intersection has been closed since July so crews can extend the streetcar line and build a new bus terminal.
City officials said the changes will also make the area safer for drivers and pedestrians.
