Carjacker Hits JPSO Deputy Following Chase

A Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputy is hurting from a broken knee after a carjacking suspect threw the vehicle in reverse and struck him last night following a police chase.

The suspect got away, with officers opening fire on him as he drove off.

The stolen truck he was in was found torched a short time later, while the driver, a white male believed to be in his 20s, had apparently taken off on foot.

FOX 8 reports that the JPSO says the suspect is a Marrero man:

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto announced that an arrest warrant has been issued for Gino Taulli, 27, of Marrero, for second degree robbery, attempted first degree murder of a police officer, and aggravated flight from an officer.

Taulli appears to have a tattoo of a cross on the top of his left hand.
