LSU Promotes Ensminger To Offensive Coordinator

(AP) LSU coach Ed Orgeron has promoted tight ends coach Steve Ensminger to offensive coordinator.

Ensminger held the position for eight games in 2016 when Orgeron initially replaced Les Miles on an interim basis.

Ensminger's promotion, announced Wednesday, comes after previous offensive coordinator Matt Canada agreed late last week to a $1.7 million buyout following just one season.

The hiring of Ensminger, a former LSU quarterback and long-time college assistant, represents a change in scheme back to more of a pro-style offense. He is scheduled to be formally introduced on Thursday.

During Ensimger's eight games as offensive coordinator in 2016, LSU's offense averaged 32 points and 465 yards per game and set a single-game school record with 634 total yards and 4:233 of possession in a victory over Missouri.
